In October 2012, the plenary meeting of the International Commission for the Protection of the Elbe River approved the 2012 International Elbe Monitoring Programme. The number of monitoring profiles remains the same as in 2012. More than 100 physical, chemical, and biological indicators will be monitored at 19 monitoring profiles (7 in the Czech Republic and 12 in Germany). 9 of the total number of the monitoring profiles are located on the Elbe River itself and 10 are on its tributaries.
